E-flite Blade CX3 MD 520N – Part 1
Dec 27th
Okay, let’s rewind a little. It’s Christmas day, and I finally get my hands on the gift from my parents – the Blade CX3 radio controlled helicopter! Just looking at the controller, it’s clear straight away that this is a much more complex model than the Apache or the Chinook. This is a proper, digital 2.4GHz five-channel system, and the throttle lever isn’t spring-loaded – meaning you can set a throttle level and release the lever without the aircraft falling out of the sky.

A quick catch-up, in case you haven’t read my previous posts on the subject: I bought a small remote controlled Apache Gunship a few weeks back, and found it to be fairly addictive. So much so that I’ve been looking for other models, and it’s fast becoming a new hobby, rather than a quick bit of fun.
Why can’t I find a CHEAP hobby?

As you’ll know if you’ve read my Videogames section, computers and videogames have been my main hobby for most of my life. But I fear another hobby may be about to intrude on their dominance. And of course, it just had to be another expensive one, didn’t it?
Get to the chopper!

This last week has seen me fulfil one of my childhood dreams… to own a remote controlled helicopter! Well, kind of…
I don’t really know why, but helicopters have always amazed me – just something about the way they look and operate, and the many roles they take. From killing machines like the Apache, to life-savers in the form of air ambulances, and even luxury taxis for the rich. Whatever its task, a helicopter is always cool!
A most enjoyable Trip

I finally got round to completing Enslaved: Odyssey to the West last night, and I have to say I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. The story is great, the voice acting superb, the graphics are fairly beautiful (very similar to the Uncharted games in some places) and most importantly, the gameplay is fun. There are also some genuinely humorous moments of dialogue in the cut-scenes. It’s not quite Uncharted 2 standards, but it’s certainly not far behind.
